About the Item

An elegant French mid 18th century Louis XV Period Cherrywood and Rouge Royale marble center table. This wonderful rectangular table is raised on four elegant and slender tapered cabriole legs decorated with mottled edges which continue up and throughout the apron. The legs and apron are joined by an ancient woodworking technique called mortise and tenon joinery while displaying an arbalest front which is again repeated on all sides. The legs are joined above the scrolled feet by a wonderfully scrolled stretcher displaying mottled edges and a central rosette with scrolled foliate vines. Above lays the original and thick Rouge Royale marble top with a bullnose edge. Wonderful warm and rich patina throughout.
