About the Item

Very unusual and rare Italian Baroque Desk, late 17th century The oval, dark veneered top within an intricate border made of various woods, contrasts beautifully with the lighter wood of the the barrel shaped body and legs. Thee barrel-shaped body contains five drawers and a slide-out writing surface covered with leather. Free-standing on its four cabriole legs in a prancing proud pose, it looks as if it could just walk away at any moment.
