About the Item
This table is an original piece made from old Japanese wood.
The tabletop is a heavy, strong board that was used as a workbench for many years. Its rough appearance is marked by saw marks and cracks. The color has also worn over time, creating a harmonious pattern.
The exact species of wood used for the tabletop is unknown, but it is thought to be a type of hardwood. Its primitive appearance expresses the beauty of natural change.
The legs are made from cut, approximately 3-4-meter-long poles that were used as farm tools in ancient Japan and have turned black with soot. The legs are attached using a nailless method called mortise and tenon joints.
It can also be used as a sofa table or side table.
When placed in a simple, modern space, the contrast between the space's simplicity and the table's rough surface adds a touch of primitive beauty.
