This is a large center table crafted from aged Japanese wood.
The tabletop is an extremely large, heavy board, and its years of use have given it a natural, primitive texture. It is believed to have been used for various tasks, such as cutting cloth, and countless knife marks remain on the underside, giving it a unique presence.
The exact species of wood used for the tabletop is unknown, but it is thought to be a type of hardwood, most likely katsura. The tabletop has darkened over time, blending with the changing color of the wood and expressing the beauty of natural change.
The base is made of cedar, and the tabletop and base were originally used as a set. Because it is so long, it is perfect as a center table or display table in a large space, paired with a large sofa.
It is rare to find such a large and impressive board in Japan that has naturally darkened and aged beautifully, making it extremely valuable.
