About the Item

A 1970's burlwood tea table with chinoisserie base by American designer Mario Buatta. Manufactured by John Widdicomb as part of their Mario Buatta Collection. The dodecagonal top has his sides rounded, burlwood veneer and shows a parquetry round decoration. The geometric chinoisserie golden legs hold an ecclectic column. The table shows its John Widdicomb plaque. Mario Buatta (1935 - 2018) is an America interior decorator from New York. He studied at the Pratt Institute in Columbia University and the Parsons School of Design. He received the influence of English designer John Fowler. Some of his most prominent clients were Mariah Carey, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Walters, Malcolm Ford and Billy Joel. Buatta is known as "the King of Clutter" and the "prince of Chinitz".
