A most impressive and truly Provincial antique walnut table from the estate of legendary American businessman, T. Boone Pickens. Born in the charming countryside of Provence, Southeastern France, directly on the border of Italy and the Mediterranean sea, in the early 19th century, possibly 18th century. Hand-crafted from warm, rich walnut, with superb grain pattern, ornate Louis XIII style, showing heavy Italian Mediterranean influence, substantial size and proportions, featuring a rectangular top with carved molded edge, atop single large frieze drawer, with hand carved dovetail joints, paneled drawer front and original wooden pull, over a shaped apron with spiral scroll incised decorative accent. High quality craftsmanship throughout including pegged mortise tenoned joinery, rising elegantly on hand turned legs joined by finial topped "X" form turned cross-stretcher, terminating on ball feet. A Spanish walnut wood stretcher table, with beautifully carved lyre legs, from the 18th century. This antique table from Spain features a rectangular-shaped top which is comprised of a single board, raised upon a pair of scrolling lyre-legs with carved tassels adorning their outer edges and swirling medallion accents at their tops and sides of each volute foot. Elegant forged-iron stretchers fill the space beneath the table with an arch-shaped design, and disc accents. The walnut wood is warm and rich, with lovely patina and age, reflective of it's history.
