About the Item

Stunning 20th century Chinese Chinoiserie Tea Coffee Table. Table features mother of pearl and soapstone design of Chinese figures on top with scrolled apron containing Chinese floral drawings, and cabriole legs. The inlaid soapstone figures are notable for it's artistry and craftsmanship. Soapstone, with it's smooth texture and ability to hold intricate carvings, was a favored material for creating decorative inlays. Chinoiserie tables were popular in the early to mid- 20th century, particularly in the context of midcentury design and luxury interiors. Table offers both decorative and functional elements to any room , blending the elegance of traditional Chinese craftmanship with the more modern sensibilities of Western design from the 20th century. Legs fold into top for easy storage.
