About the Item
This square table by Danish multi-artist Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006) has a total of no less than 196 handpainted tiles on top. The tabletop frame is made from wenge and the legs are brass.
It was designed and executed in 1960 for luxury department store Illums Bolighus.
Bjørn Wiinblad was one of Danmark’s the most versatile and successful artist ever. He applied his creativity to ever so many materials – ceramics, glass, porcelain, paper, and when creating furniture often added precious woods and metals.
The table is signed by Wiinblad and it has a plaque from the Danish luxury department store Illums Bolighus under its tabletop.
