About the Item

This early twentieth century French Art Deco coffee table is stamped by the French designer Louis Majorelle (1859-1926). The signature is branded inside of a shell on the underside of the tabletop. This table features a book matched palisander construction creating a concentric square pattern. The table is fitted with four nesting tables that slide out from underneath the top. Each nesting table measures 21.75 inches in height. This unique table designed by Louis Majorelle, most noted as an Art Nouveau designer, was created toward the end of his life. Due to a fire in one of his factories during the First World War, Majorelle lost many of his designs and therefore ventured into Art Deco, thus making this piece a rare find. c. 1920.
