About the Item

Coffee table in ceramic tiles and metal, Belgium, 1960s. This is a truly wonderful mid-century coffee table in ceramic tiles and metal. An almost certain Belgian made table, since the original owners bought it in a high-end Belgian furniture store and remembered it was also made in Belgium. It resembles works by Jules Dewaele / Pia Manu, Rogier Vandeweghe and Raf Verjans, but also lets you think of tables by French ceramic artist Roger Capron. The tiles in the table top are inlayed in a joyful and elegant pattern, which is both playful and very elegant. The different hues of brown and grey give the table a very lively appearance. The metal frame is very understated, but very elegant and timeless. Wonderful in combination with brutalist furniture and natural materials. We could see it combine effortless with furniture by Guillerme et Chambron, Charlotte Perriand or Pierre Chapo. Good proportions and size, very elegant and suiting for larger spaces. Just a really great coffee table. In great vintage condition with a minor piece of concrete missing at one corner. This could be repaired, but it does not take anything away of the beauty of this table.
