About the Item

A vintage solid travertine table on a pedestal created by Stone International which was founded in 1975 just outside of Florence, Italy, the heartland of art and fashion. The table's top surface is filled and polished in contrast to the round beveled edges and pedestal which is not filled or polished. The top section is also removable and easily mounts to the base. For centuries, Italian artisans have used natural stones to create such masterpieces as the “DUOMO”, the “COLOSSEO” and the statue of “DAVID”. The stone comes from deep with in the ground or up on the highest mountains. Stone International quarries in the Apuan Alps in Italy which are the most legendary and world renowned. Stone International respects the authenticity of stones created by Mother Nature. Artificial marbles or any other industrial products like ceramic, porcelain and glass with a “marble effect” are just not enough for our their customers. They believe furniture is not meant to be only functional but to generate emotions. Stone International designers select the most unique marbles, cut them in precise pieces, put them together, and hand-finish them to make luxury furniture dedicated to people who love natural materials Travertine is a favored stone by Stone International. The stone shows a light beige background color. It's texture typically presents swirled veins coming in shades of brown and grey. It shows frequently small dark areas due to natural iron inclusions. The stripes or veins extend throughout the table giving the appearance of ocean waves. Travertine in its natural form has holes, pores and fissures.
