About the Item

This Japanese vintage low table (zataku) was crafted in the Early Showa Period (1926–). The top is keyaki (Japanese zelkova), while the legs and surrounding frame are maple (kaede)—a warm, natural pairing. A finely framed top with special corner joinery, understated yet sophisticated, gives the piece a clean, graphic edge. The grain shows a calm, time-softened patina; the overall impression is clean and quietly composed, rather than overtly rustic. Purposefully low in height, it reflects Japan’s floor-seated living—tables meant to be used with tatami and zabuton, close to the ground. Simple and versatile in use: as a coffee table, a low writing/tea table, or a display platform for books, ceramics, or objects. Easy to style along a sofa or rug without adding visual weight. Cleaned and disinfected with a non-toxic solution. The structure is sound. As a vintage piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent vintage condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character. Weight :16.5lbs(7.5kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan.
