About the Item
This vintage low table (fuzukue) was crafted in the Early Showa Period (1926–).
Made of hinoki (Japanese cypress), it shows a warm, time-worn surface with a quiet wabi-sabi character. The overhanging top has edges gently softened by age and use. Two drawers with iron ring pulls provide tidy storage, and the straightforward joinery conveys an honest, utilitarian beauty.
Designed for floor-seated writing and work in Japan, it sits lower than Western tables, keeping sightlines open. Practical and easy to style: use it as a low coffee table, writing desk, or display platform for ceramics, books, or a tea tray—while the drawers organize notebooks, remotes, or stationery.
The piece has been carefully washed with water.
The structure is sound.
As a vintage piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent vintage condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character.
The interior dimensions are as follows (in inches, with centimeters in parentheses):
Drawer interior (each)
W8.9" × D14.6" × H3.1" (22.6 cm × 37.0 cm × 8.0 cm)
Weight :14.7lbs(6.7kg)
