About the Item
A handmade coffee table by Gracie, the family firm establisged in 1898 and known for antiques, handpainted wallpapers and custom cashew lacquer furniture.
This table was made in the 1990's in their New York art studio. It has tradditional Chinese horsehoof feet at the bottom of tapered legs. The stepped apron sits below a top with a slightly inset center panel. On the panel is a highly detailed Chinese Export style handpainted scene in gold with water, boats, trees, pavilions, and figures among a rocky landscape. The table is finished in many layers of cashew lacquer in tones of brown. Cashew lacquer is known for it's beauty as well as durability.
