About the Item

This exceptional Lane “Acclaim” surfboard coffee table represents the most sought-after and hard-to-find version in the series—the extra-long model distinguished by its dramatic center “zipper” of oversized dovetail inlays. Designed by André Bus in the early 1960s, the Acclaim line is celebrated for its marriage of American walnut and contrasting ash, yet this rare elongated form stands apart for both its presence and its scarcity. The table’s silhouette is unmistakable: a long, graceful surfboard top with softly rounded ends, supported by tapered legs that echo the aerodynamic lines of mid-century modern design. The continuous run of dovetail inlays down the center is a bold design gesture—graphic, architectural, and instantly recognizable. It serves not only as ornament but as a visual spine that emphasizes the table’s impressive length. Refinished with care, the piece now reveals the full richness of the walnut grain, warm and expressive, while preserving the charm of its vintage character. The ash dovetail accents retain their crisp contrast, and the surface shows only minor, age-appropriate signs of use. The refinishing work enhances both durability and visual clarity without erasing its history. This long-form Acclaim table rarely comes to market, as it was produced in far fewer numbers than the standard versions. Its scale allows it to anchor a room with confidence—ideal for larger seating areas, modern interiors, or collectors who seek iconic mid-century design in its most impressive forms. A standout example of Lane’s craftsmanship and André Bus’s vision, this piece offers both collectible pedigree and functional beauty. Among mid-century American coffee tables, few designs are as instantly recognizable or as enduringly desirable as the long Acclaim surfboard with its signature dovetail “zipper.”

Vintage Heywood Wakefield Wheat Finish X Base Square Coffee Table
By Heywood-Wakefield Co.
Located in Chattanooga, TN
There's a rich, deep, aged honey patina on this wheat finish birch / maple. We achieved a a near perfect muted grain and color match to the top surface that we delicately restored. This sleek, study, understated and classic modern coffee table embraces mid-century minimalism design. The "X" base with intersecting spanners adds an appealing architectural elegance that remains timeless to this day. Sculpted, and assembled with no visible hardware. This restored Heywood-Wakefield 392-G square coffee table is an elegant expression of mid-century minimalism, crafted in the signature wheat-maple finish that has made the brand so revered. It measures approximately 36 inches by 36 inches (91 × 91 cm) across the top, and stands about 15.75 inches (40 cm) high — a scale that delivers both generous surface area and low, relaxed visual impact. The design is beautifully composed: a square tabletop with softened edges floats above an intersecting “X”-base, with crossed stretchers that add structural elegance and visual interest without heaviness. The wheat finish has a muted grain: blond tones, subtle warmth, and a light yet rich surface that reflects light softly while grounding surrounding furnishings. The craftsmanship is clean: wood joints are refined, hardware is concealed, allowing the form and wood grain to speak. Because of its proportions and design, this piece works beautifully in a range of interiors. It can anchor a sprawling seating area in a living room, serve as the central gathering point in a lounge, or provide surface and sculptural presence in modern or Scandinavian-light-wood interiors. Its square silhouette allows symmetry in layout; its wheat finish harmonizes with wood tones, brass or matte metal accents, soft upholstery, and even minimalist or muted color palettes. We're certain you won't find a more sublime vintage rendition of this coffee table anywhere. Stamped by the maker with illegible date. Good overall vintage condition. Top has been professionally refinished by our in-house cabinet shop.Only very minor age appropriate imperfections remain on the legs and spanners. Heywood Wakefield Coffee Table...

Modern Minimalist Rosewood Rectangular Dining Table With Tubular Legs
By Arne Vodder
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Custom made, one-of-one modern minimalist rosewood dining table, vintage Nineteen-Laties (late 20th Century). This sleek dining table is all about showcasing the exceptional cut of rosewood used to fabricate the table top. Honey and cinnamon colors contrast with deep cherry chocolate hues, giving the grain brilliant appeal. The color and motion in the wood figuring is simply exquisite. No further ornament is needed. The elegant table is supported by four cylindrical legs. This uniform round leg is a much appreciated lark, deviating from the typical pencil turned tapered or even square legs. A Minimalist masterpiece is one that can capture harmony and beauty in a seemingly simple, albeit genius way. Judging by this metric, we’d rate this table a winner. The table is pictured with six chairs but can comfortably seat eight. You may even be able to fit ten guests depending on chair size. The classic table design makes it easy to blend with many styles. It’s a modern table, but we have it paired with Chinoiserie chairs in the picture (the chairs are not included). Consider pairing these with Danish, farmhouse...
