About the Item
This architectural side table marries sculptural minimalism with luxurious materiality. It features a smooth, square travertine pedestal base whose warm, subtly veined surface grounds the design with natural gravitas. A beveled square glass top appears to hover above, subtly supported by a centered gold-finished cross-bar that spans gracefully across the stone, bringing an elevated shine and visual tension to the composition.
The cross-bar nestles into precise grooves carved into the travertine—an elegant detail that ensures both structural integrity and aesthetic refinement. The beveled edge of the glass enhances the interplay of weight and transparency, accentuating the stone’s solid presence while inviting a sense of lightness.
Measuring approximately 27.75 inches square for the glass surface, with a base of 23.5 inches square, and standing around 22.25 inches in height, the table offers a commanding yet thoughtful footprint. Stunning travertine stone square pedestal cocktail table in the style of Maitland-Smith. Super-sleek, elegant and Classic modern style. The stone has exotically marbled earth tone veins. The Minimalist design is perfectly complimented and contrasted by the flat bar brass and beveled glass. The smooth polished walls of the pedestal are both modern and monumental. Intersecting brass rails are nestled inside carved grooves and span out to brace the beveled square glass top.
The removable beveled glass easily mounts to the base. No stains or chips in the base. Glass has one small repaired corner chip and the brass bars have minor tarnish and color fading. This piece is unmarked or dated but appears to be from the late 70's to early 80's.
