About the Item

Scene with two sailing ships, original technique on resinated wood panel, designed and created by the Gruppo d'Arte Decalage of Turin, hand painted. On the back is the Group's authentication label. The table has gilded brass feet with upper chrome bands. Produced by Cumino C , Turin. ABOUT: DECALAGE GRUPPO D'ARTE (Aloisi - De Cavero - Girardi) The Gruppo d'arte Décalage was an artistic collective of three Italian painters who worked together for over thirty years, from the mid-twentieth century. The name "Décalage" comes from the first syllables of the surnames of two of the members, Felix de' Cavero and Attilio Aloisi, to which the suffix "age" was added to emphasize the analogy with collage. The group was later joined by Nardo Girardi, completing the trio. These artists were known for their unique collaboration, creating six-handed works, where each brought their own influences and sensibilities to the painting. They also innovated a particular technique for painting on wood, which involved the impregnation of wood. The work of Gruppo Décalage is characterized by three intersecting periods: a first figurative period (1953-1969/70), a second romantic figurative (1966-1987), and a third surrealist (1961-1979). Their art played a significant role in the Piedmontese artistic panorama of the second half of the twentieth century.
