Crafted in France circa 1950, this mid-century coffee table by Maison Jansen showcases the firm’s celebrated fusion of neoclassical detail and modern restraint. The square frame features a mirrored glass top with original silvering and soft aging, set within a brass border that adds warmth and sheen. Supported by four tapered legs in gun barrel-finished steel with gilt bronze collars and fluted capitals, the table is both elegant and architectural. Curved side stretchers form a refined X-base with a central fluted finial, balancing structure with sculptural grace. The rich contrast between bronze and patinated steel reflects Jansen’s mastery of material, proportion, and classical references reimagined for the 20th century. Measuring 27.5 inches wide by 27.5 inches deep and 17.5 inches high, the piece is in good vintage condition with surface wear and visible patina to the mirrored top consistent with age and use.
