Crafted in France circa 1950, this mid-century coffee table by Maison Jansen exemplifies the firm’s signature blend of neoclassical elegance and modern restraint. The rectangular frame holds a clear glass top and is supported by elegant legs composed of bronze and solid steel with a distinctive gun barrel patina. The refined two-tone finish offers a sophisticated contrast. The use of bronze and steel underscores Jansen’s mastery of material and proportion, echoing 18th-century French design while maintaining a clean, modern silhouette. Measuring 31.5 inches wide by 17.75 inches deep and 16.5 inches high, this antique-style table is in very good vintage condition with light wear and patina consistent with age. A versatile and elegant piece, ideal for interiors that mix classic and contemporary elements. Maison Jansen was a Paris-based interior decoration firm founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Considered the first truly international design house, Jansen served elite clients across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. Initially sourcing antiques and outsourcing cabinetmaking, the firm established its own workshops by the 1890s, producing both contemporary designs and high-quality reproductions in Louis XIV, Louis XVI, Directoire, and Empire styles.
