His talent extended beyond the workshop as he began designing for well-known companies like Brown Saltman and Glenn of California. The 1960s and 1970s saw McCabe's ascent to prominence as a designer and manufacturer. Under his own banners of Erin Furniture and Orange Crate Modern, he introduced his unique design philosophy to the world. McCabe's design signature is characterised by sleek modern lines, exacting precision in joinery, and a masterful fusion of wood, glass, and steel.
