About the Item

Mid-century Paul Kingma coffee table with “floating” top, 1960s A striking and rare mid-century coffee table by renowned Dutch sculptor and designer Paul Kingma, crafted in the 1960s. This exceptional piece features Kingma’s signature mosaic stone inlay set into a substantial concrete top, executed in a beautiful palette of earthy tones—slate greys, ochres, deep greens, and warm rust hues. The rectangular top appears to float elegantly above its sleek black metal frame, a hallmark of Kingma’s architectural approach to furniture design. The interplay between the table’s robust, organic materials and its refined, minimal base gives it a sculptural, gallery-worthy presence. Dimensions: • 120 × 50 × H.37 cm • 47.24” × 19.69” × H.14.57” This example is in great vintage condition and has been professionally reinforced on the underside, ensuring long-term stability while preserving the original aesthetic. About Paul Kingma: Paul Kingma (1931–2013) was a celebrated Dutch artist best known for his monumental tables that blur the line between functional design and sculpture. Each piece is handmade and entirely unique, incorporating materials such as slate, brass, concrete, ceramic, and found objects collected during Kingma’s travels. His works are highly sought after for their craftsmanship, material richness, and strong Brutalist sensibility. Kingma’s tables have become icons of European mid-century design and continue to be collected worldwide. A superb statement piece for collectors of mid-century, Brutalist, or artisanal studio furniture. Colors may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings. Wear consistent with age and use. The table will be shipped insured overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of insured transport to the US is Euro 975 crate included.
