About the Item

Pair of vintage 1970s Percival Lafer, Brazilian Modern side tables. The deep red hue rosewood bases support a rich smoked glass table top. Both of the tables bear the “Lafer” label. The frames are tastefully complimented by the chrome metal hardware. These protruding polished bolts are thoughtfully considered design elements on the minimalist side tables. These low profile modern end tables are modular! Push them together to create a coffee table. Additionally, one could use these as nightstands besides a platform bed. The compact size, portability and flexibility make these tables ideal for those short on space. We have many pieces of living room furniture by Percival Lafer, all sold separately. Let us know if you are interested in any more pieces from Lafer. An emblem of Brazilian Modernism and refined mid-century sensibility, this Percival Lafer occasional table commands attention from every vantage point. Crafted in Brazil during Lafer’s prime era, the table’s sculptural base is hewn from richly grained rosewood, polished to a silken glow that captures the tropical warmth and natural depth of the wood. That base seems to float beneath a plinth of smoked glass, offering visual weight yet absolute lightness — the perfect dialectic in fine furniture design. The smoked glass plateau is deliberately calibrated: dark enough to evoke mystery and contrast, yet transparent enough to reveal the architecture beneath. Metal fastening details, subtly interwoven into the design, act not merely as structural elements but as aesthetic counterpoints — flashes of cool metal against the organic rosewood. The balance of materials — warm exotic wood, elegant glass, and understated hardware — speaks to Lafer’s mastery of compositional restraint. Measured in person, the table exhibits a presence beyond its scale. From the taper of its legs to the cantilevered extension of the glass, every line is intentional. In well-lit interiors, the piece casts delicate shadows and reflections, turning ambient light into a shifting choreograph of planes and silhouettes. Condition is exceptional: the rosewood veneer (or solid panels) are intact, with minimal signs of age, and the glass shows only minor wear consistent with use — all lovingly maintained to show its history rather than conceal it. Any small imperfections only enrich the narrative of provenance but do not detract from integrity or display quality. Collectors of Brazilian modern, mid-century interiors, and design connoisseurs alike will find this table appealing not simply as furniture but as an artifact — one that bridges sculpture and utility, form and function. In a setting that values intentionality, this table becomes a focal point: perfect next to a lounge chair, beneath an expressive sculptural lamp, or as a standalone statement in a gallery-like environment. Given the marketplace for Lafer pieces — especially those combining rosewood and glass in this configuration — it stands not only as a beautiful object, but as a discerning investment in design heritage. Frames have been professionally detailed top to bottom. Glass is newer and appears to be blemish free. You may find some very fine imperfections on close inspection. 22” Wide x 24” Deep x 12.75” High.

Vintage Heywood Wakefield Wheat Finish X Base Square Coffee Table
By Heywood-Wakefield Co.
Located in Chattanooga, TN
There's a rich, deep, aged honey patina on this wheat finish birch / maple. We achieved a a near perfect muted grain and color match to the top surface that we delicately restored. This sleek, study, understated and classic modern coffee table embraces mid-century minimalism design. The "X" base with intersecting spanners adds an appealing architectural elegance that remains timeless to this day. Sculpted, and assembled with no visible hardware. This restored Heywood-Wakefield 392-G square coffee table is an elegant expression of mid-century minimalism, crafted in the signature wheat-maple finish that has made the brand so revered. It measures approximately 36 inches by 36 inches (91 × 91 cm) across the top, and stands about 15.75 inches (40 cm) high — a scale that delivers both generous surface area and low, relaxed visual impact. The design is beautifully composed: a square tabletop with softened edges floats above an intersecting “X”-base, with crossed stretchers that add structural elegance and visual interest without heaviness. The wheat finish has a muted grain: blond tones, subtle warmth, and a light yet rich surface that reflects light softly while grounding surrounding furnishings. The craftsmanship is clean: wood joints are refined, hardware is concealed, allowing the form and wood grain to speak. Because of its proportions and design, this piece works beautifully in a range of interiors. It can anchor a sprawling seating area in a living room, serve as the central gathering point in a lounge, or provide surface and sculptural presence in modern or Scandinavian-light-wood interiors. Its square silhouette allows symmetry in layout; its wheat finish harmonizes with wood tones, brass or matte metal accents, soft upholstery, and even minimalist or muted color palettes. We're certain you won't find a more sublime vintage rendition of this coffee table anywhere. Stamped by the maker with illegible date. Good overall vintage condition. Top has been professionally refinished by our in-house cabinet shop.Only very minor age appropriate imperfections remain on the legs and spanners. Heywood Wakefield Coffee Table...
