This luxurious coffee table is a masterpiece of Bauhaus elegance and functionalism, dating back to 1930s Czechoslovakia. During this period, Czechoslovakia was a European powerhouse in the production of tubular furniture. The table features a slender yet sturdy frame made of tubular chrome-plated steel, which has been professionally cleaned to restore its brilliant mirror-like luster.
The uniqueness of this piece lies primarily in the material of the tabletop. It is crafted from mahogany veneered with rare wenge wood, known for its deep, dark color and distinctive grain. As part of an expert restoration, the original wood polish was sensitively revived, accentuating the noble contrast between the exotic veneer and the modern chrome.
