About the Item

Rectangular form showcases Roger Capron's celebrated Herbarium series tilework, featuring botanical impressions embedded in glazed ceramic. The French ceramicist's distinctive technique captures plant forms in relief, creating textured surfaces that vary across each handcrafted tile. Earthen glazes and organic compositions reflect Capron's Vallauris studio aesthetic from the 1960s-70s. One tile has a chipped corner as shown in photographs. Additional small chips present on tiles and edges. Wood base shows wear consistent with age and use, including surface scratches and patina to the finish. These imperfections reflect decades of use and the handmade nature of studio ceramics from this period. Capron's Herbarium tables remain highly sought after for their artistic merit and craftsmanship. Each tile was individually created, making every table unique. The botanical motifs and textured glazes bring organic, tactile elements to interior spaces. Works well as a coffee table, side table, or display surface in mid-century modern, bohemian, or eclectic settings.
