About the Item

Round mosaic top coffee table with a brass rim around it on four legs, by Berthold Müller. The top has an abstract composition and the brass has a lovely patina. Berthold Müller-Oerlinghausen (1893-1979) was a German sculptor who specialized in mosaics. In the 1960s and 1970s, Müller worked as a freelance designer and produced a range of furniture designs that were characterized by their simplicity, clean lines, and functionality. Müller's work was widely recognized during his lifetime, and he received several awards for his designs, including the prestigious German Design Award. Today, his furniture designs are highly sought after by collectors and are held in the collections of many major museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
