About the Item
This rustic coffee table, offered here, was crafted in the early 1960s in Veldhoven, Netherlands, by the renowned furniture makers Piet Rombouts and Sons. The table is made entirely of weathered solid oak. The oak wood comes from timber-framed houses in Germany. The wood has been exposed to sun and rain for centuries, giving it an exceptionally beautiful, worn character.
The table features a rectangular top with a thickness of 2.75 inches. The top rests on square, straight legs, connected at the ends by a framework. Originally, the table was stained a deep brown and then lacquered several times with shellac. In our workshop, the table was stripped of its lacquer and stain, then gently sanded. The table is now completely bare weathered oak and has a lovely rustic appearance. This very special table is clean, solid, and ready for use.
This table is a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship of Piet Rombouts and Sons, with every detail reflecting their dedication to quality. The weathered oak, sourced from centuries-old timber-framed houses, adds a unique character to the piece. Its solid construction guarantees durability and longevity. Notably, the table was crafted by Piet Rombouts and Sons, the founders of what is now a third-generation furniture-making family.
