About the Item

Striking Italian Neoclassical table featuring an impressive rectangular rouge marble top with dramatic white veining, cut and book matched to create a bold symmetrical pattern. The base is crafted in carved wood with its original polychrome and gilt accents, now beautifully mellowed with age. The frieze is decorated with a series of fluted and leaf carved motif, centered by a gilt carved rosette medallion. The tapered, fluted legs end in square block feet, showcasing the restrained elegance typical of the neoclassical period. This piece displays a wonderful balance of opulence and refinement- its richly colored marble contrasts against the timeworn painted and gilt surface of the carved frame, giving it both historical character and decorative appeal.
