About the Item

19th Century Italian Giltwood, Jasper Marble Console Table 19th-century Italian console table featuring a richly carved giltwood base with burnished red undertones. The dramatic base is adorned with sculptural birds with expanded wings flanking each side, creating a bold and elegant silhouette. The base dates to approximately 1820–1840 and displays traditional Italian decorative carving. The top is crafted from green Jasper, dated to around 1960, and is rimmed with dark brown marble that appears nearly black, creating striking contrast against the vivid green surface. The combination of the historic base and later Jasper top results in a visually commanding and refined console table. Signs of use include small nicks, scratches, and cracks (throughout) to the carved wood base, along with multiple minor nicks and old repairs to the marble top, particularly near the edge trim. These details are consistent with age and use. Restored, strong, and stable, this console is ready for placement and serves as a dramatic focal point in elegant interiors.
