An elegant 19th century Italian Rococo style hand carved polychrome painted and parcel giltwood console table, circa 1850s. Handcrafted in Tuscany, this beautiful antique wall console features a serpentine top with beveled edge above a frieze carved with foliate designs and centered by a stylized palmette. Raised on graceful cabriole legs adorned with carved acanthus leaves at the knees and ending in whorl feet with acanthus leaves. This custom made, one-of-a-kind Louis XV style Rococo wall console was handcrafted by a master artisan in the South of France using antique wood and an original 18th-century giltwood curtain pelmet. Painted in a softly aged creamy white, the console incorporates the richly gilded pelmet, showcasing the exuberant curves and carved ornament synonymous with the French Rococo. The shaped apron features a central rocaille-framed cartouche with scrolling acanthus, clustered roses, and expressive S- and C-curves, all masterfully carved in the 1700s and preserved with an authentically time-worn patina.
