About the Item

A half round, vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian wall mounted console table made of handcrafted gilded metal with a black marble top, designed by Pier Luigi Colli, in good condition. The small demilune side table is enhanced by detailed decoration with three leafs. Wear consistent with age and use. circa 1940, Milan, Italy. Pier Luigi Colli was an Italian artist and designer, born in 1895, in Turin and passed away in 1968, Italy. Colli studied at the French university, The École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. After his studies, he returned to Italy, where he stared working in the family furniture business. Most of his pieces are representing the Parisian, Art Deco period, style. Colli often used very combined materials such as iron, brass, glass and wood. The company worked together with well known architects and designers, such as Gio Ponti, Giovanni Gariboldi, Carlo Mollino, etc. In 1980, the company was closed, making the furniture highly sought after.
