About the Item

Antique French Louis XVI Gilded Marble Top Console with Trumeau is the perfect selection for a tall yet narrow space, perhaps between windows or next to openings and doorways. Designed in two pieces, it features a trumeau top with romantic-themed painting all set in a charming framework consisting of fine molded detail, spiral ribbon, rosettes, and a crown of a floral wreath atop a torchere and quiver of arrows. The mirror feature an egg dart trim with slightly larger rosettes, and provides a lovely reflection overlooking the demilune rouge marble surface of the console below. The console features a quatrefoil overlay motif on the apron, with an acanthus flourish appearing over the singular scrolled leg, itself also adorned with carved acanthus leaves descending down the cabriole form and again upturned at the foot. The gold finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, only adding to the overall allure. Circa early 1900s Measures 96H x 18W x 9D; surface 32H
