About the Item

This pair of Italian carved painted and gilded console tables were made circa 1900. They are formed as palm trees in a left and right form and exude great charm and whimsy. The painting is comprised of typical marbleizing to the top and bottom platforms and a green wash for the trees with gilded highlights. This stands on a faux porphyry base of a later date most likely made when they were purchased to be used in the Richard's New York apartment, the contents of which was auctioned off to raise money for a charity close to Keith Richards wife’s heart. The legendary New York City dealer Lou Marotta was instrumental in helping to acquire goods for the designer and wife team but the apartment is now being turned over to their children and they wish a more modern look. What a great opportunity to acquire a small piece of the rock and roll lifestyle.
