About the Item
A stunning and most unique French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period giltwood and marble mirrored console. The console is raised by elegant spiral fluted feet below striking lightly tapered circular fluted legs with an exceptional wrap around carved fabric leading up to richly carved acanthus leaves. Each leg is connected by a beautiful stretcher with concave designs, a lovely beaded band, and a central floral reserve with the original mirrored backplate framed in a foliate band. Above each leg are superb block rosettes flanking stunning and most decorative interlocking geometric designs extending along the apron above a charming twisted ribbon centered by a richly carved foliate plaque. Above is the original fitted marble top frame within a mottled foliate border.
