About the Item

An elegant and most decorative French early 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated Wood and Trets marble console. This stunning freestanding console is raised on four circular toupie shaped feet with spiral fluted designs below the tapered and fluted legs displaying wrapped ribbons leading to swaging foliate garlands. The legs are joined by a pierced moulded stretcher with a handsome central Urn of Prosperity, and the eternal flame, while flanked by a berried laurel branches to each side. The front frieze and both concave sides showcase a pierced arcade design while accented by richly carved foliate garlands centered by a laurel wreath. The frieze is flanked by the impressive fletching like capitals of each protruding leg and supports the original fitted Trets marble top which follows the shape of the console. All original patina throughout.
