About the Item
A stately Italian early 19th century Empire st. Mahogany, Ormolu, and Sienna marble console. This handsome demi lune shaped freestanding console is raised by four square tapered Mahogany legs with their original fitted square Ormolu sabots. At the top of each leg is an elegant rounded and mottled design below the half round apron displaying recessed panels with a quarter round trim. The central panel is richly decorated by a finely chased Ormolu mount of a classical allegorical relief depicting Psyche born through the heavens on a chariot which is being pulled by butterflies. Above lays its original Sienna marble top with a carved round edge design.
