About the Item

A stunning and extremely decorative Italian early 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated wood, giltwood, faux painted marble, and Bardiglio Fiorito marble console. The wall mounted console is raised by a wonderfully executed faux painted marble base below beautiful large acanthus leaf carvings. The two elegantly curved supports display a fine mottled and fluted design with lovely hand painted flowers. Above each support are block rosette reserves flanking the apron decorated by additional charming and finely detailed hand painted flowers. Above is the original Bardiglio Fiorito marble top with a superb mottled border. All original gilt throughout.

Topped by a beautiful striated Flandres Rouge marble, this giltwood console from circa 1860 was hand-carved with Louis XVI style motifs. The one inch thick red, pink, beige, brown, and gray marble has a chamfered edge. It has been carved with two rectangular protrusions that align with the fluted legs below. The legs are adorned on the lower half by a leaf stalk with a curled tip above lanceolate cup feet, separated by a rectangular joint with a floret.
