About the Item

A striking and sculptural pair of 1940s neoclassical end tables designed by Lorin Jackson for Grosfeld House, showcasing the firm’s signature blend of theatricality, craftsmanship, and modernized classicism. These rare tables are distinguished by their lavishly carved apron panels—deeply sculpted to mimic swags of draped fabric, complete with tassel-like drops—an unmistakable Jackson motif that brings a sense of stage-set glamour to functional furniture. Each table is rendered in carved wood with its original old-paint surface, a warm cream-and-ivory palette softened by age. The square tops retain their hand-tooled leather insets, framed by a gilt Greek key border that echoes the carved Greek key running along the lower plinth. A single drawer with brass ring pulls provides discreet storage while maintaining the tables’ refined silhouette. The pedestal base rises with fluted faces that flare into a weighted plinth, giving the pair a monumental, columnar presence. Their proportions—28" W × 18" D × 30.5" H—make them ideal as end tables, lamp tables, or even nightstands for a bold classical bedroom. Beautifully detailed, architecturally scaled, and unmistakably Grosfeld House, this pair offers both sculptural impact and historical sophistication. They are perfect for collectors of American Deco-to-Hollywood Regency design, interior decorators seeking statement-making neoclassical pieces, or anyone drawn to the glamorous theatricality of mid-century Grosfeld House production.
