About the Item
A charming and most elegant pair of French 18th century Louis XVI Period Tulipwood, Kingwood, Ormolu and Rouge Royal marble consoles. Each stunning freestanding consoles is raised by tapered cylindrical feet with Ormolu sabots and top caps leading to square legs supporting a lower display surface. The display shelf is backed by a mirror plate and finished with a pierced Ormolu gallery, which is open at the front. The legs showcase exceptional inlays which mimic flutes, and lead to the three sided apron displaying a single drawer. The central drawer is trimmed with Ormolu and showcases two rosette pulls and a finely chased keyhole escutcheon adorned with a bow tied ribbon. Above is the Rouge Royal marble top which follows the shape of the console and is finished with an ogee edge.
