About the Item
The Möbius Console by Pierre Renart is a singular demonstration of wood virtuosity combined with contemporary design. Inspired by the infinite ribbon of the Möbius strip, cabinetmaker and designer Pierre Renart showcases the full mastery of his craft, creating the illusion of a console carved from a single, continuous piece of wood.
Crafted from American walnut and adorned with straw marquetry, this precious console is both sculptural and functional. A refined red line, created through the delicate art of straw marquetry, subtly follows the console’s flowing curves, enhancing its sense of movement and lightness.
This work belongs to a collection of furniture created through a collaboration between Pierre Renart, cabinetmaker and designer, and Lison de Caunes, straw marquetry artist and designer. Each piece is entirely handmade in France, signed by the artist and unique. Customisation is available upon request: dimensions can be adapted to the intended space, a different essence of wood may be selected, and the straw marquetry colours can be chosen according to preference.

Pierre Renart
Pierre Renart (born 1990, France) is an artist, designer, and cabinetmaker, graduating as Valedictorian from the École Boulle in 2011. A tireless explorer of materials, he combines traditional woodworking expertise with advanced technologies, pushing the boundaries of contemporary furniture design.
His work is distinguished by the elegance of its lines and the seamless integration of function and form. Pierre Renart quickly gained recognition among collectors, notably with his iconic Genesis armchair. His practice spans bespoke furniture and spatial design projects for collectors, architects, decorators, and professionals.
In 2019, his Möbius Console entered the permanent collections of the MAD – Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, where it is displayed in the Marsan Pavilion. The Mobilier National acquired several of his works between 2020 and 2023, including pieces from the Ruban and Genèse collections. Since 2017, Pierre Renart has been based near Blois, France, where his large, state-of-the-art workshop enables him and his team to realise ambitious, large-scale projects.
