About the Item
A very fine pair of hand made 20th Century parcel gilt and well figured mahogany demilune console tables. This stunning pair of console tables are of exceptional quality, beautifully carved, gilded and marquetry inlaid with rich patination and grain. The quarter veneered, crossbanded and line inlaid moulded top of demilune form with intricate marquetry inlay depicting an exquisite radiating fan accented with foliate motifs in a composition of arches, bellflower pendants, anthemion, foliate and flowerhead detail framed within delicate line inlaid borders. Raised above a gilded single long drawer panelled frieze decorated profusely with fabulous acanthus leaf and applied flowerhead paterae motif detail. Supported on elegantly tapering ring turned reeded leg wrapped with decorative ancanthus leaves conjoined with marquetry inlaid concave shelved undertier.
