These are a very rare and important 19th century pair of console tables, made in the Adams taste, of the Victorian period, the tops are single slabs of what's called Wabi-Sabi marble, this cut of marble is left as natural as possible so the top has a grain and patina as if it came straight from the rock, its not smooth like modern polished marble, if you have a look at the video, when the light catches the top you can see the difference, it is sublime
The frames have all been restored to include having the joints tightened glued and clamped, they've then been deep cleaned, hand condition waxed and hand polished, there will be normal age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect and some small losses to the carvings as they are so ornate

The Adam style (or Adamesque and "Style of the Brothers Adam") is an 18th-century neoclassical style of interior design and architecture, as practised by Scottish architect William Adam and his sons, of whom Robert (1728–1792) and James (1732–1794) were the most widely known.
The Adam brothers advocated an integrated style for architecture and interiors, with walls, ceilings, fireplaces, furniture, fixtures, fittings and carpets all being designed by the Adams as a single uniform scheme. Commonly and mistakenly known as "Adams Style", the proper term for this style of architecture and furniture is the "Style of the Adam Brothers"
The Adam style found its niche from the late 1760s in upper-class and middle-class residences in 18th-century England, Scotland, Russia (where it was introduced by Scottish architect Charles Cameron), and post-Revolutionary War United States (where it became known as Federal style and took on a variation of its own). The style was superseded from around 1795 onwards by the Regency style and the French Empire style.

Condition
Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition
Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

This table is stunning, I would say early to mid 19th Century, the timber patina is exquisite as is the carving on the leg arches, it is a very fine piece of English furniture. The marble top is twice the thickness of a normal piece, it is a monster of a piece and has a wonderful tapered edge
The table has been restored to include having the base lightly washed back and French polished, it retains all its original patina as does the marble top which one chip I think at the front left
This table can be used as a large hall...
