Antique 17th Century James I Jacobean Carved Oak Demi-lune Credence Table 1620

A very rare & important James I (Jacobean) carved oak credence/side table, Circa 1620. An almost identical table is housed in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum London, please see the last two images of the Victoria & Albert table collection below. The table having a demi-lune top and carved freize forming a semi-circular box which is opened by lifting the lid, fitted with the original cut steel strap hinges. The carved 'blind fretwork' freize having raised geometric devices & bosses, the table on three ring-turned tapering legs joined with a semi-circular stretcher. The table having a couple of ancient repairs, but is in remarkable condition for a table that is 400 years old, being robust and stable and ready to grace your home.
