Antique Vargueno, Spanish, and Table, Console, Desk, 1800's, 19th Century! This Antique Vargueno Spanish Console Table from the 1800s exudes a handsome charm, perfect for any room in your home. Made fully assembled with a rich brown wood tabletop and intricate details, this piece showcases a classic Spanish style. With six drawers for added functionality, this console table is a unique blend of functionality and style, brought to you from Spain with a touch of history. Spanish vargueno and console table, 19th c., the traveling desk having a brass grill and finials over three drawers at each side flanking the breakfront door accented with twist columns and brass figures, the door opening to three interior drawers, all rising on brass claws over the ball feet, the vargueno set on a rectangular top console table with protruding center, all on stretcher joined spool legs with decorative iron stretcher, 34.5"h, 43.5"w, 15"d Wear and imperfections commensurate with being moved, age and use. 299t20 "Old World Elegance at Reasonable Prices!"

This stunning French Empire style marble-top mahogany fall-front desk, 19th century, projecting frieze drawer, with gilt metal crossed sword pulls, turned column supports flanking the fall-front panel, opening to gilt embossed leather writing surface, mirrored interior gallery, over dual cabinet doors, opening to reveal three drawers, above lower apron drawer, approximately 56.5" height 37.25" width, 17" depth. Dominated by Greco-Roman models, the Empire style - spare, noble, massive - had a studied dignity consistent with Napoleonic majesty. The characteristic furniture types were a bit stiff but imposing: their flat surfaces and sharp corners, together with their lack of moldings, produced an effect of grandeur that was not without beauty as per Timothy Corrigan The Empire style was deliberately propagandistic, and embraced what was most monumental in ancient art as suitable analogies to the new French Empire. Napoleon imposed a tyrannical centralization on artistic production, decreeing that it would be subject to control from Paris and overseen by the architects Percier and Fontaine...
