About the Item

Refined French bureau plat from the Napoléon III period, crafted in the Louis XV style and dating to the late 19th century. The desk is finished in elegant black lacquer and richly embellished with finely chased gilt bronze mounts, including expressive mascarons, scrolling rocaille ornaments and decorative sabots. The shaped rectangular top is decorated with a central gilt motif and a delicate double-line border, emphasizing the elegant contours of the piece. The desk opens to two functional drawers, fitted with ornate gilt bronze handles and retaining their original locks and key. The cabriole legs are adorned with sculptural gilt bronze female masks and foliate mounts, showcasing the refined craftsmanship typical of French Napoléon III furniture. This bureau plat can be used as a writing desk, dressing table or statement piece, seamlessly integrating into both classic and contemporary interiors. Condition: Good antique condition with light wear consistent with age and use. The lacquered surface and gilt bronze mounts are well preserved and display a rich patina.
