About the Item

19th century early victorian leather top writing table circa 1840. Fine quality mahogany and leather library table which would function perfectly well as a desk. Original leather top with traces of original gold tooling, narrow border around the outside edge and decorated with a reeded edge.   2 deep drawers above the knee complete with decorative brass handles and key plate.  Splayed feet with carved scrolling detail, united by an arched stretcher, standing on brass castors. Leather top with original patina, with fading and staining over the years.  Minor surface marks and very minor losses to woodwork. Fine looking desk, which is ready for everyday use. Knee height: 23 3/4"
