Exceptional Viennese Biedermeier Writing Table, circa 1825 This exquisite Viennese Biedermeier writing table, crafted circa 1825, is a rare and refined example of early 19th-century Austrian design. Ebonized Biedermeier furniture was produced almost exclusively in Vienna and represents only 1–2% of all Biedermeier production, making such pieces exceptionally scarce and highly sought after by collectors and designers alike. Viennese Biedermeier is celebrated for its perfectly balanced proportions, understated elegance, and masterful craftsmanship—qualities that continue to influence modern and contemporary design to this day. This elegant table features beautifully sculpted lyre-shaped legs, a hallmark decorative motif of the Biedermeier period, set upon a gracefully formed base. A generously sized drawer is discreetly integrated beneath the top, retaining its original brass hardware. The piece is crafted from ebonized pearwood and finished with a traditional French polish, enhancing the depth and sophistication of its surface.
