About the Item

A Victorian faux bamboo Chinoiserie partners desk in re-laquered elm, the top with aged camel colored leather and gold embossed border. Distinctive and elegant, this English partner's desk has 9 functioning drawers on one side and 3 drawers over two cabinet doors on the opposite side. Lacquered coloring ranges from red to orange. What appears as crackles is actually a painted background throughout this striking desk. Chinoiserie is the European artistic style implemented in the 17th-18th centuries which imitates Chinese motifs. Those seen in this stunning partner's desk include male and female figures, pagodas, animals, birds, nature, and more. Leg opening Height: 24.5" Restored, strong, stable, drawers function and is ready for use. No pulls on the cabinet doors. All drawers function with brass pulls (no keys).  Generations of use are revealed in the top with stained leather throughout, distress/minor loss to painted/laquered finish, cracks, etc. A long crack is visible on both short ends of desk.  All scratches, cracks, dings, stains and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this remarkable partner's desk.
