An outstanding Antique French Louis XV style bronze-mounted leather top desk, dating to the turn of the 20th century and signed Billen Paris. Billen was a highly regarded French retailer active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for supplying luxury furniture of exceptional quality to the finest homes throughout Paris and across France.
This finely proportioned bureau plat is adorned with high-quality bronze ormolu mounts, crisply cast and richly detailed, that highlight the graceful curves of its serpentine apron and cabriole legs. The bronze mounts are a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship that defined French decorative furniture during this era, bringing a touch of opulence and refinement to the piece.
The desk features a stunning burgundy leather writing surface, edged with intricately gilt-embossed tooling along the edges, a hallmark of high-end French furniture.
