This is an antique writing table. An English, mahogany scribe’s desk, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. A superbly proportioned example, ideally suited for modern use while retaining authentic period character. Crafted in quality mahogany stocks, displaying fine grain interest and rich caramel hues Presents a desirable aged patina, in good original order Wide writing surface, well suited to contemporary requirements Central storage compartment positioned above the kneehole Fascia arranged with a dual-height drawer to one side Pair of drawers to the opposite side, offering balanced visual symmetry Drawer fascia dressed with brass drop handles over decorative backplates Generous internal compartment concealed behind a faux drawer fascia Writing surface set at a useful modern height of 81cm (32'') Wide kneehole offering 66cm (26'') in height of comfortable leg clearance Standing upon a quartet of elegant gadrooned legs Riding smoothly upon brass castors for ease of movement This is a handsome Regency writing table, offering excellent usability, refined craftsmanship and timeless appeal — ideal for a study, home office or library interior.
