About the Item

Desk, Matthias Feller (design), M. Ballin München (manufacturer), ca. 1912 marked twice with "M. Ballin München"; bib.: "Innendekoration - mein Heim, mein Stolz", 1912, S. 200. technique: american walnut with ruby shellac polish, ebony, Makassar ebony, brass, celluloid, horn leather A particular favorite in our gallery is this desk, based on a design by Josef Maria Olbrich and richly decorated with inlays. The design was so famous that it was taken up by the renowned furniture manufacturer M. Ballin in Munich and modified by architect Mathias Feller. Our desk has its original fittings and the locks are marked with the initials of the furniture manufacturer. In keeping with Olbrich's style, our desk is made of the finest woods such as ebony, american walnut and Makassar ebony.
